ORIGIN
The ETSGA was the brain child of H. E. Bolton of Oak Ridge who suggested that the area
clubs organize to give their senior members a monthly golf program. The 1st meeting was held at Oak Ridge
on April 5, 1971 with 6 charter member clubs - Oak Ridge CC (10 charter members), Holston Hills CC
(5 charter members), Deane Hill cc (3 charter members), Green Meadow CC (7 charter members), Beaverbrook CC
(2 charter members) and Fox Den CC (1 charter member). The first official play date was April 26, 1971 at the
Oak Ridge CC with 27 players participating. Players were flighted by age brackets rather than by handicap.
The age brackets were 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, and 70-74.
GOAL
The goal of each outing has been to provide the players with
an experience that they would find enjoyable thru competition with their peers,
yardages tailored to age and ability, and equal opportunities to win prizes. To
accomplish these ends, the ETSGA Board of Directors has constantly adjusted the
manner in which outings are constructed. The parameters used to set up outings
can be found in the FAQs section.
